During the year 2004 , 100 cattle development centers were established under special SGSY scheme of Govt. of India are project was implemented in 3520 villages in 96 Blocks of 17 districts in Eastern UP with an aim to generate rural employment through cattle development centers that provided breed improvement facility through artificial insemination. Farmers were supported with quality inputs such as mineral mixture, dewormer and vaccination. Intensive awareness and community mobilisation was undertaken through farmers association - Gram Dugdh Vikas Samooh .
Since April 2012, centers are being operated on self sustained mode with contribution from farmers and support from corpus fund created during the project and technical & managerial support from organization .
During the year 2019-20, 185717 AIs were performed , 87793 animals were conceived and 72122 calves were born. Proportion of AIs in cattle is to buffalo is 55: 45.
